Microsoft and mortals

About me
Greetings :) I'm K.Haripriya, currently pursuing my bachelors degree in Computer Science and Engineering from Mepco schlenk Engineering college, sivakasi. Many of my predecessors have already played their part in the evolution of pragmatic products, the benefits of which we are enjoying. What role am I going to play?? This is my  attempt in that direction..

Impact of Microsoft
Three  words- "Growth with  conscience" aren't enough to complete my obsession to Microsoft. But it is true, inspiring minds of mortals since 1975. Fascinated by the fluttering Microsoft Windows logo during childhood, began my expedition to be a part of this originator. I'd say the current eminence of Microsoft is due to its "keep it simple" mantra.

By creating a dominant OS that was hardware agnostic Microsoft drove down the cost of computers more than any other company. The dream of "computer in every home" became a reality. This ushered an era of software and personal computing that common man could be grateful, for it rejoiced both ends(management Vs mortals).

Windows azure, a cloud computing platform is one which forthcoming IT enterprises can rely on. When many organisations build experience with such cloud platforms  it would appear less exotic to public. Among all such products, azure occupies special place in my life for I handled a session about azure in college.

Bing and its integration with Windows 8.1 has resulted in "smart search" processing queries at start screen. Its integration has proved to be efficient than counterparts. Photosynth, a powerful set of tools for capturing and viewing the world in 3D is my childhood fantasy that became true. "Oh!! Can it read my mind?" . I bet you would be encountering these lines.

Outlook.com, among the first web based mail service, provides package of services. I can send massive files, including hundreds of photos at a time. OneDrive, the free storage facility in the cloud are some features that I take advantage of.

Some unique research products like SLAM and PREfast, tools for software verification that aid in designing interfaces. Further it can ease the Goliath job for who want cleaner code!! I'm curious to use them.

Microsoft Visual Studio, an all time fascination in my sophomore. Dogfooding this feature has created confidence in its own products, the mode followed by very few enterprises and a marketing testimonial well followed!! The range of programming language it supports  from tyro to typical developer, the debugger integration provided in Visual Studio, all make it shine.

Office suits that include Word, excel, outlook, oneNote, access,PowerPoint is an indispensable ingredient of my everyday life.

Photo fuse, a way to merge multiple group photos to get the best one, included in Windows Live Photo Gallery is excellent. Panorama  stitching, is a great tool!! It creates high resolution panorama with individual set of photographs.

The recent additions to family, Round Table- The 360 degree video conferencing device that detects who is speaking. From the demonstration video, we can see that Round Table can make the problems related to video conferencing fade away.

The acquisitions, Skype- Sky-Peer to Peer made video call possible free of cost. The recent Nokia's takeover brought it into smartphone arena and the rest is history!! Windows phone, that comes with built-in Microsoft applications are simply smart. The easy to switch feature so that I can switch over from former mobile easily, simple syncing with PC, Live tiles that add bliss to front page and that too at an affordable cost make them unique.

Then I came to hear about DreamSpark that enable students to access software free of cost. I always had a question running in my mind..what do engineers contribute to society?? And I found the answer through Microsoft Student programs.

How I plan to bring about a change in society, being a Microsoft Student Associate

  • I am good at coordinating events and promoting products from my school days and I think  it is the right time to apply this skill to a wider public.
  • Differentiate our  product from those of competitors. People are so busy that they don't spare time to compare. So, providing clear comparison openly will promote our products. And that too by being one among the common man  through social media will help.
  • "Money has no memory, Experience does..". None can deny a product that made to flex their muscles and smile. But a proper platform to present it to the right hands is essential. Providing sample products at institutions helps. So conducting hands on session with Microsoft products can help us reach still greater heights.
  • Empowering explanimations- a visual story combined with humor can be powerful for most of the people don't read through text.
  • Making lives easier by bringing people closer to technology, inspiring people to innovate based on technology that is already available.

So, these are the  many  Microsoft products that have touched my life in ways i never imagined technology could. I really hope to play a role in making these boons readily available to masses and I also hope to innovate and create products that will be useful to society. These are my dreams, dreams inspired by Microsoft, dreams I hope I'll achieve with Microsoft.
